Progressive Unionist Party of Northern Ireland
Dear Sir/Madam,We are a Political Party who have been involved heavily in the Northern Ireland Peace Process and would represent people from within the Loyalist/Unionist Community. The peace process, which has brought everyone to the negotiating table, includes our adversaries Sinn Fein/Irish Republican Army. The process that we are all involved in can only be credible and successful if all parties are genuine in their intent for the future.
The recent arrest and court appearances of 3 Provisional IRA members in Colombia accused of having false travel papers and of assisting FARC Guerrillas in training of bomb making techniques and the exchange of terrorist knowledge casts doubt on the sincerity and intentions of Sinn Fein/IRA towards the future of the Northern Ireland Peace Process.
It is our belief that while engaging in peace negotiations in Northern Ireland, Sinn/Fein/IRA have also been engaged in and International Cartel of Terrorism which stretches from the borders of the Basque Country, ETA, Columbia and other countries with local unrest and conflicts.
The deadly cocktail of bomb making, drugs and assassinations should send the shivers through any democratic country, especially those who have unrest on their doorstep. We are not talking about the three individuals who were arrested but we are talking about the intentions of the Provisional IRA as an organisation and their Political Wing Sinn Fein who presently sit on the Government of Northern Ireland
We are convinced that this International Terrorist Cartel has been in existence for some time and has grown world wide as these arrests demonstrate. We are calling on all Governments to take action against these International Cartels and prevent the spread of IRA influence.
We would also call on all Governments to make public all the information and intelligence on the IRA's involvement in International Terrorism from the 1994 ceasefire until the present day.
We feel it is incumbent on all democrats to demand the answers from the political masters of the IRA, Sinn Fein, reasonable answers and not fairy tales that they were only tourists or Journalists.
There is and onus on the IRA and Sinn Fein to condemn contacts with foreign terrorist groups and drug cartels. The intent of people who preach peace and progress does not stop at the borders of the UK and Republic of Ireland. Peaceful intent is the abandonment of all acts of violence whether they are here, Spain or South America.
We therefore request that you inform us of your policy on tackling International Terrorism and all those who participate in such actions.
Signed
David Ervine
